Congratulations to Pillar employee, John Williams from the E-Business/Employer Services team for his recent win at the International Masters Hockey Tournament held in Hong Kong from 24th to 31st October. John represented Australia in the Over 55 side (aptly named the Vintage Masters for the amount of red wine they consume!) and after 5 gruelling games, came home with the silver medal! Well done John! This event is one of Australia’s leading charity events and is organised by Women In Super, a national network of women in the superannuation and finance industries. Pillar employee, Brendan Dowler, is on his way to Beijing to represent Australia at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics. Brendan has been a regular member of the Australian Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team (nicknamed the 'Rollers') since 2001, and has played over 100 games in that time. Newsflash: Brendan Dowler wins GOLD at Paralympics in Beijing! The Australian basketball team, 'The Rollers', beat defending champions Canada in a nail-biting match, finishing with a score of 72-60. On Friday 30th November 2007, Pillar hosted the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand at our Sydney office. Each year the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA NSW) host the CEO and Young Professionals Breakfast at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour. This year twenty (20) Pillar staff attended the event. The breakfast provided a great opportunity to network with fellow employees as well as our CEO Peter Cormack. The keynote speaker was Andrew Johnson, Executive Director of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) who discussed the challenge of social engagement and social activism in the 21st Century. |
