The 1st of July 2008 saw JUST Super merge with Print Super to become Media Super - the industry super fund for print, media, entertainment and arts professionals.   Pillar Administration has been administering Print Super since 2002 and we are very proud to be administering the merged Media Super fund.

To mark the occasion, a cake was ordered for staff to share.  The Media Super administration team along with others involved in the merger project gathered for a celebratory morning tea and to thank team members for all the hard work they have put into the project.

The Board and Management of Pillar Administration would like to congratulate Pillar’s Chairman, Dr Col Gellatly for being awarded an AO, Officer of the General Division in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Pillar again sponsored ASFA’s Trivia Night in the football capital of Australia.  The theme “Show Your Colours” brought out the trivia and football enthusiasts from the Melbourne world of superannuation who descended on the Park Hyatt Hotel for a night of entertainment.

Congratulations to the winning team “Bardvash Conspiracy” from Superpartners (pictured left, holding their Pillar wine bags).  The “Pillars of Wisdom” team, including several guests from AGEST Super, Prime Super and Media Super, came in a respectable 6th place.

The Chairman of Pillar Administration, Dr Col Gellatly has announced the appointment of Mr Peter Beck as Pillar’s Chief Executive Officer, commencing in early April 2008.

Mr Beck is a successful financial services executive with extensive experience in all aspects of the industry in both Australia and South Africa.

On Friday 30th November 2007, Pillar hosted the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand at our Sydney office.  Members of the delegation, from various Thai asset management firms and fund administration service providers, were visiting Australia to learn about fund administration services and Pillar was pleased to be able to provide first hand experience and information to our visitors.

On Thursday 26th July 2007, a number of staff employed by the New South Wales Government were awarded the NSW Service Medallion. The award is in recognition of meritorious service of 40 years (or more) as an officer employed by the New South Wales Government. Our own Les Howe - Manager, Member Communications - is pictured receiving his award from The Honourable Kristina Keneally MP. Congratulations Les on your outstanding service.

The Illawarra Mercury recently wrote an article about Graduates from the University of Wollongong that have successfully undertaken Graduate Programs with local businesses within the region. Adam Trevarthen, a Pillar graduate within our IT department, was selected to be interviewed by the Mercury and the article went to press on Tuesday 15th May 2007. Each year the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA NSW) host the CEO and Young Professionals Breakfast at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour. This year twenty (20) Pillar staff attended the event. The breakfast provided a great opportunity to network with fellow employees as well as our CEO Peter Cormack. The keynote speaker was Andrew Johnson, Executive Director of the Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) who discussed the challenge of social engagement and social activism in the 21st Century.

This year's Conference of Major Superannuation Funds was held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Queensland and Pillar was once again the exclusive sponsor of the After Dinner Party. The Pillar Encore Bar was a huge success with conference delegates keen to party on after the Gala Dinner. In keeping with the theme of the conference "Super For Life: An Unfinished Symphony", party-goers were entertained by a string quartet, Paradise Strings.

Pillar is delighted to announce that we have been appointed by the Australian Ethical Superannuation Fund (AES) as its new administrator. This is a particularly important appointment for Pillar as it marks Pillar’s entry into the retail sector of the superannuation market.

The AES has around 10,000 members and $200 million in assets, with both accumulation and allocated pension divisions.  The initial contract term is for 5 years and is scheduled to commence towards the end of 2007.

Pillar is delighted to announce that we have been appointed by the National Preservation Trust (NPT) as its new administrator effective from 31 March 2007. The NPT is an Eligible Rollover Fund with over 510,000 members and more than $340 million in assets.

This appointment cements Pillar’s position as the third largest superannuation administration provider in Australia.

Over 1,750 participants attended the ASFA Conference ‘Going The Distance’ at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.  The conference is the biggest event in the superannuation industry calendar and Pillar was one of over 50 exhibitors at SuperExpo.

Pillar’s exhibition booth which reinforced our standing as a 100% Pure Admin company, served 100% pure orange juice to thirsty delegates during session breaks.

Pillar is delighted to announce that Ivy Gueco from our Contact Centre has been named the Tele-Professional of the Year 2006 at the 11th Australian Teleservices Association (ATA) national awards! The award was presented to Ivy in front of over 400 delegates on the Gold Coast on Friday, 15th September. Congratulations, Ivy for your spectacular win!

The 2nd ASFA Melbourne Trivia Challenge was held at the Rydges Backlot and Pillar was again the proud sponsor of this event that is fast becoming a fixture on the Melbourne superannuation calendar.

The Australian Primary / AGEST / Pillar team rose to the challenge of the occasion, earning a respectable 6th place on the night.

Continuing the tradition, Pillar was once again the exclusive sponsor of this year’s CMSF After Party at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Queensland. As usual, the Pillar Bar was well attended by delegates following the Gala Dinner.
